“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”. Isaiah 9:6

European countries celebrate the Christmas holiday on December 25, but here, in Armenia, we celebrate it on January 6. The Bible does not specify the exact date of birth of Jesus Christ; therefore, the sacrament of His birth is more important for us than the exact date. That is why I want to talk about why the Christ was born.

We know that God loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. It is written: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given… “. Beloved, we are given a gift from the God.

There are insignias on the shoulders of military uniforms, shoulder straps, which show a particular rank of a serviceman and His military power. Jesus Christ had the power from the date of His birth. The prophet Isaiah says: “… the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father and The Prince of Peace.”

That is what gave us the birth of Jesus Christ. We have a wonderful and mighty God, the Counsellor, who gives us useful advices, the everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace. Some religious groups contend that the Christ is not God, but the Holy Scripture clearly says that he will be the Mighty God.

Open wide the doors to the Prince of Peace, receive Him under your roof, because He will bring happiness to you!

Beloved, I congratulate you with the holiday of Christmas. May the Holy Nativity give you faith, hope and salvation, so that you become the true heirs of eternity.

God bless you. This year, live and act the way so that next year on the birthday of Jesus Christ you may stand boldly before Him and say: “Lord, everything I’ve done this year, I give to You, that Your Name be glorified in this world and in my life.”
