First of all, let’s see how wonderful a man of God prays, calling upon his LORD. He says: “… we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies”.

You know, actually this is one of the keys of prayer given to us. We should not say: “Oh God, please comply with our request, because we are your children”, but we should express our thanks to Him for our salvation, for righteousness and finally ask for His mercy.

Please note that the man of God was praying for the destroyed cities, which were called by the Name of the Lord.

Dearly beloved, we are filled with the Spirit of God, the name of the God is called upon us, but very often we look like ruined cities, which can be restored only with the help of God. We can change nothing without His help.

Perhaps your life is ruined today, and as it seemed impossible that the “ruins” of Job’s life would be restored, so you guess now. However, remember that the name of the God is called upon you and start praying as follows: “O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies”.

It’s good that we are now saved and can serve the Lord, because we are going to have a requital for that. But when we start praying, it is necessary to remember that we do not ask the God for our righteousness, but for His great mercy. And then we will get answers from Him. Amen.
