I want to advise you to read not only this verse, but also the continuation of it, and in general, all the First Epistle to the Thessalonians, because it will give you a strong edification. As a spiritual temple, we need be updated internally and we need to create ourselves.
Well, it is written: “In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”. No matter in what kind of social conditions you live, what problems you have, how deeply you were hurt, etc. The important thing for us is giving thank to God in everything, because this is the will of God concerning us. Thanksgiving should become a feature of our character.
Each of us wants to live according to God’s will. In the prayer of “Our Father”, there are such words: “Thy will be done….” If we proclaim the God’s will upon our lives, then we should thank Him for everything.
Probably we are not much comfortable with many things in our country, family or church we attend, but the Word of God tells us: “In everything give thanks…” and then adds: “Quench not the Spirit”.
The Holy Spirit dwells within us and if we do not pray, then we quench Him. We need to think about that seriously and give some thought to those words.
Let’s pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks to the Lord and not quench the Holy Spirit. These are those three high bases, on which we can build our Christian life. Amen.
