This is a wonderful parable, which teaches us that the power of the new is greater, than that of the old. The Lord gives His supernatural, new anointing, but our old being must be renewed in order to be able to receive the new. Old thinking, character and habits must be left behind.

I remember the words of one of the Christian ministers, Lester Samrall. He said, “Wherever there is a revival, I want to be there”. That man was always ready to walk forward in a new way.

There are times when new power comes, but the man, who is used to the old, simply is not able to receive the new. This applies to both praise and worship and prayer. It has nothing to do with the age: the old man can be filled with a new wine, but the young one not.

The apostle Paul says, forgetting the past, I go forward. New things will not happen in our lives, if we hold the old.

Let us be renewed with the power of the Holy Spirit and be filled with new thinking. Let us take whatever God has prepared for us and move forward.
